Peter Jan Anstatt
February 9, 1942 - November 7, 2021

On Sunday, November 7, 2021, the Anstatt family lost their devoted husband, loving father, and life of every party, Peter Jan Anstatt (Jan) in a tragic car accident in Wilmington, NC at the young ripe age of 79.

Jan grew up in Blairstown, N.J. and went to school at Blair Academy, graduating in 1959. He attended Carnegie Institute of Technology graduating in 1963.  While at Carnegie he was a member of the ROTC and served as a 2nd Lt. in the Army for 2 years.  After the Army he went to work for Einson Freeman, a point-of-sale company.  As a partner, he helped to transform Einson into an advertising and promotion agency and exited the company after a sale to a third party in 1988.

Never one to rest, Jan subsequently joined the Discovery Challenger Space Learning Center, providing education and simulation opportunities for students interested in science and space exploration.  After retiring, Jan enjoyed spending his time traveling and golfing with family and friends. In addition, he was passionate about volunteering in his community for the Landfall Tradition and marshalling at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, NC. He was an avid fan of UNC Wilmington basketball and NY Football Giants.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Jean; children: Chris Anstatt and Holley East; grandchildren: Piper and Ryan East; brother: Steven Anstatt; sister: Susan Matteson as well as numerous relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by his friends in the Landfall Community.

Jan was predeceased by his Father, Herman Anstatt, Mother Margaret Anne Dunham and his in-laws, Al and Helen Sorchiotti.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Country Club of Landfall, Nicklaus Clubhouse (800 Sun Runner Place, Wilmington) at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jan’s memory to the Patriot Military Family Foundation at https://patriotmilitaryfamilyfoundation.org/direct-donations

Jean! Something told me to look up my best friend in the Army and someone who helped me build my new career after military service. I am sad to hear of his passing and will keep him in my prayers. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
