Patti Nelson Carlton
April 21, 1955 - August 22, 2021

Patti Nelson Carlton, 66, of Supply, NC passed from this earth on August 22, 2021. Patti was born in Natick, Massachusetts, but came to the South as quickly as she could.

Patti had an infectious laugh, one that would shake her whole body as she threw back her head. She loved to cook and entertain, one of those women who believed that second helpings were needed by most for a meal to be considered a success. Patti enjoyed planning trips for her family and would often buy plane tickets or book hotels the moment a travel idea was thrown out, to make sure it actually happened. Christmas was Patti’s favorite time of the year. She decorated, she baked, she Hallmark movied, and she wrapped gifts (many of which she’d have stashed in a closet or under a bed since July).  Patti’s dancing skills were something to remember- slightly off beat, always with snapping, and often with a shimmy or arm flap. When she wasn’t pulling the arm of a slot machine in Atlantic City, she was fishing barefoot in a t-shirt on Portsmouth Island, even though everyone else was in a cold suit. Patti will be remembered for a lot of things, but most of all, for her unwavering love and support of her family and friends. The words “she will be missed” just don’t seem to sum up the hole she has left with us all.

Patti is survived by her husband Danny Carlton, her two children Hannah Doran and her husband, Sean, and Rachael Banks and her husband Josh, her grandson, Waylon Banks, and her siblings, Pam Mahaffey, Paul and Betty Nelson, Penni Lee, Paula Miller, Pat and Ashley Long, Eddie and Cheryl Long, and Mike and Jakie Long. She is predeceased by her parents Peggy Long, Paul Long, and Pete Nelson.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Holden Beach Chapel on Thursday, August 26th, 2021 at 11am with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please instead make a donation to the Glioblastoma Foundation.

I have missed the years we spent shooting pool w/our husbands, experiencing our first pregnancies together and those joyous and scary days learning to be mommies.
It is hard imagining anything that could take the life from her body or that could quiet her spirit.
Patti, I know you are once again whole and having a wonderful reunion with loved ones, especially your mother and Grammy. Forever young, forever well, and waiting for the day when you’ll be reunited with all of your love ones, forever.
Hugs and prayers for Danny, Hannah, Rachael, Pam, Paul, Penni, and Paula, and to all who love Patti.
My deepest sympathy to all of you. Love, Melva

May God bless and hug this beautiful family. What a wonderful tribute to such a wonderful lady. I knew her through my absolutely precious friend Rachael her daughter. Both of her daughters share her beauty and her contagious personality. What a beautiful testimony of her life and the happiness that her family and surroundings gave her. Sending peace to you all during this sad time! Love you

Patti was my best friend growing up, for a while we lived in same neighborhood. She was one of the funniest people I have ever known. In 2019 I went to see her in NC, I we hadn’t seen each other in 40 years. We had a ball, she had something planned for each day, we relived our childhood touring around Myrtle Beach! When we were young we would go camping to Myrtle Beach with Peggy & Paul Long. We had so much fun back then. Patti’s whole face would light up when talking about Rachel & Hannah she was so proud of her girls, especially her grandson Waylon. Patti was one in a million, her unstoppable spirit and her sense of humor will be missed. May you Rest In Peace forever, my friend I know one day we will see each other again. I pray for her family that they can find peace in their grief as they move through the days ahead without her. Rest In Peace Patti, until we meet again some day. Love you always, Sandee
