Gaye Lisa Sullivan Harber, 56, of Rocky Point, NC, fell asleep on February 12, 2021, and awoke in the arms of Jesus. Gaye was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on February 25, 1964, the third daughter of Johnnie Gaston Sullivan and Virginia Florence Holden Sullivan. Gaye spent her first 15 years, growing up in Florida with her family, before they moved back to her parents’ home state of North Carolina. She was blessed to be able to live close to many extended family members before leaving home to start her own family. For many years, Gaye enjoyed working for Holt Oil Company.
Gaye was preceded in death by the love of her life, Darrell David Harber, and her parents, Johnnie and Virginia.
Gaye married Darrell in Brunswick County, NC on June 5, 1998. They made several moves before settling in Rocky Point, NC, where they continued to raise their family.
Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Faye Medley (Tim) of Wilmington and Alisa Nicole MacDonald (Bryon) of Burgaw; step-son, Daniel David Harber; two sisters, Pamela Latrelle Richards (Jim) of Winnabow and Teresa Lynn Collier (Gary) of Mechanicsburg PA; a brother, Johnnie Lionel Sullivan; and sister-in-law, Tammy Harber Skipper of South Carolina.
Gaye is also survived by the Lights of her Life, granddaughters, Emily Isabella Medley, Meredith Ivy Medley, and Aeva Marie MacDonald. She took such delight in playing with them and especially talking to them on the phone when they could not be together.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends, Carl Sutton, Kim Craft, and Earlene Graham.
A memorial service has temporarily been put on hold for now.
