Beverly Jean Gravelle
January 1, 1970 - November 1, 2017

Beverly was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 24, 1951, to the late Chicago police officer Harry Krope and the late Winifred Straight Krope, who died giving birth. Her stepmother was Kettle Krope.

Beverly graduated in the first class to finish at John F. Kennedy High School in Chicago and was a member of the National Honor Society in 1969. She worked as a transcriptionist for Dr. Leo F. Miller in downtown Chicago.

After moving to Oak Island in 1977, she had two beautiful daughters, Jeannine and Laura. In November of 1994 she married Alan Gravelle.

Beverly was an EMT, sworn police officer, and dispatcher for Long Beach, NC. She hosted at Western Sizzlin for seven years. She also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Karen Fairfield.

She was a member of Ocean View United Methodist Church for over 20 years and was an important member of the Chancel Choir there for six years. She was a long-time member of CW3 Women’s Bible Study.

Beverly is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Alan Gravelle, two daughters, Jeannine Palmeter and Laura Palmeter Jadro, and four grandchildren, Christian, Addison, Aidan, and Alyssa.

A Celebration of Beverly’s Life will be held 2:00pm Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Ocean View United Methodist Church, 8400 E Oak Island Dr. Oak Island, NC.

Arrangements are in the care of Coastal Cremations, Carolina Shores, NC.

    Dear Alan & family, So very sorry for your loss.Please accept my deepest sympathy. Beverly was a wonderful person and I know will be greatly missed by all who knew her. I know, for me, it was always a joy to see her. I wish I could be with you at this sad time but, please know I am there in my thoughts and prayers. Now and in the days ahead, may you feel the mighty touch of our Great Comforter.

    Dear Alan and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Beverly was a beautiful person both inside and out. I always enjoyed seeing her at Ocean View and keeping up with family photos on Facebook when I moved to Holden Beach. My love and prayers go out to all of you.
